This project focuses on developing a platform for Adaptive Clinical Trials (ACT) to evaluate the impact of rapid phenotypic and genotypic antimicrobial susceptibility tests on bloodstream infections (BBSI). These infections, associated with high mortality and inappropriate use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, require urgent diagnostic and therapeutic optimization. The trial aims to demonstrate that early antibiotic therapy guided by rapid microbiological diagnostics improves clinical outcomes and antibiotic stewardship compared to standard care. It also seeks to compare available rapid diagnostic tests to identify the best options for integration into sustainable, high-quality diagnostic-therapeutic pathways.
