COVID-X - COVID eXponential Programme

European

The COVID-X project was a European initiative that bridged the gap between digital technology and healthcare to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. By leveraging artificial intelligence and data-driven solutions, COVID-X accelerated the development and deployment of innovative tools addressing challenges in diagnosis, prognosis, and patient follow-up. The program provided financial support and real-world validation for over 30 projects, offering support to either single tech companies and team collaborations between tech companies and healthcare providers. Participants benefited from a 10-month acceleration program that included technical support, business coaching, and ethical validation, as well as access to the COVID-X Data Sandbox—a platform integrating diverse health data sources to facilitate AI-driven solutions. By fast-tracking these innovations to market, COVID-X aimed to save lives and enhance the resilience of healthcare systems across Europe.

Humanitas Research Hospital played a pivotal role as one of the clinical partners in the COVID-X project. They collaborated closely with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to validate AI-based solutions focused on imaging for lung disease detection, classification, and mortality risk prediction. Their involvement ensured that the developed technologies were effectively integrated into clinical settings, optimizing processes and supporting clinical decision-making.
